you can't fly? bummer.

i had vastly unpleasant dreams last night.

i dreamed about unfriendly friends and about working for a big cheery corporation that employed me to make people keep quiet.

i did not wake up so smiley.

i've done the lions share of this project for my un-favourite client and am mostly just waiting for them to review my work so i have some sense of what to do next. i'm making gentle progress in getting things going on the new company, which still seems like a decent idea.

and i feel like i've been in australia for five months and don't really have any honest-to-goodness friends yet. i've got people with whom i'm in friend-internship with, but no one who calls me up at random times to see what's up. "hey, it's friday, what are you up tonight?" no one who shares the substance of their lives with me. excepting my lovely wife of course.

i need to remember that what i'm doing now is "living somewhere new." that just being here and getting by is a major accomplishment. the fact that i'm meeting anyone at all and getting anything resembling work is fairly miraculous.

i don't feel miraculous, however. i feel like one of the zombies in Shaun of the Dead.

i keep digging around for some big project to involve myself with but it's not happening. i feel like i'm in some sort of big suck. all my motivation and potential and eagerness is drawn out of me by the vaccuum of "new life in australia."

there's only one thing to do.

i need to start working on Shark Tornado again.

you remember Shark Tornado, of course. that's my screenplay about a small town terorized by a tornado full of sharks.

i'm not quite sure how the movie goes, but i'm pretty clear on the poster. it would read:

SHARK TORNADO! What could be worse?

or perhaps:

SHARK TORNADO! First it blows, then it bites!

i feel better already.

I've never stopped to think about the phrase "lions share" before, but now that I do it makes no sense. I thought lions didn't do shit - that it is the lionesses who do all the work.

it's the lion's share of EATING, not work.

let me get this straight: the lioness does all the work of catching the food and the lion eats most of it? obviously feminism has not caught on in big cat societies.

hey dude, it's wednesday, what are you up to tonight? what? it's thursday there?

no wonder this doesn't work.

When does the Shark Tornado jump the shark? Screw the friends. Go on a 3-month walkabout and finish the damn screenplay. I have excellent ideas for the commentary track of the DVD. Hurry up.
