happy firth of forth!

yes. we all love this holiday, the day after the forth of july when we compound our celebration of our crushing defeat of the redcoats with some general relief that we are not eating scotish cuisine.

today is the firth of forth! put down that fried Mars bar! no more black pudding for you!

ah yes. good times.

and how was your weekend?

this weekend, we did a lot of the traditional american activities. it was, after all, bartlebee's first independence day as a full-fledged americano.

on friday, we stayed home, watched bad movies and appreciated our still-vigorous mutual attraction. on scatterday, we had waffles with the shinglers then drove out to the east bay to sit in the sun and appreciate our still-vigorous mutual attraction. then we had fish and chips at that place by the berkeley marina that is never open but which was actually open!

they have a sign. it says, "now open seven days." do they mean total? what?

then we went back to REI to register for more wedding gifts. people have been grumbling about the lack of stuff on our registry. grumble no more. now you can buy us socks!

it's like a dream come true. to be so close to our feet, it makes you shudder with pleasure, no?

um. then we napped. then we went to chill with RR, conservative slacks the pirate, my brudder and other hooligans at Madrone.

they have cucumber vodka there. is this a good thing?

perhaps. perhaps it is.

how's the weekend roundup working for you? still unsatisfied? thinking, yeah, sure, but what about the barbeques?

fret no longer.

on stunday, we went to pemberbutt's for the traditional flame roasting of meat. dre made some salt crusted steak that was drool-worthy and we basically stuffed ourselves until the fire department told us the roof could no longer support our massive, bloated bellies and that, no, hosing down the neighbors was not acceptable. i hate firemen. they are totally useless unless you are on fire.

then, on le monde-day, we drove to sausalito for roberto's bbq flame-off. everyone was there! even twitchy-matt and his almost-bride! boy, i hope i get to spend an awkward fifteen minutes trying to talk to him again real soon!

ha ha.

at roberto's, rhonius and megatron were admiring my trainer ring. my engagement ring. it's got a little rose gold rectangle on it with two straight lines. "what's that symbol," they asked.

ha ha. well, see, bartlebee and i thought it was just decorative but then, walking around the castro i noticed a ton of these royal blue bumperstickers. stickers with yellow equal signs on them. they mean, "i support gay marriage." they look suspiciously like the symbol on my ring. which bartlebee got in the castro. from a jeweler named Dion Manly. (<- not a joke).

so, ha ha. my engagement ring is also a pro-gay marriage ring.

(bartlebee does not have a weenus!! shut up! she's all-chicklet. fucking firemen.)

megatron then asked rhonius what two straight lines means in the I Ching. he knows about that stuff because he is astrological consultant to the president. he is also paul revere the III. rhonius said, hmm, two unbroken lines means double yang.

which is sorta appropriate for a pro-gay marriage symbol. and, double-yang is my new gang name according to my fiancee.

now i get to flip the double-yang gang sign when people say hello to me.

it's been a long time since i ever had a nickname. since never ago.

i'm reading about the naval battles of the Great War. Dreadnaught is a cool name for a ship. so is MoMo the Flying Nicklebag.
