Faster, Better, Strongerish
last night i bought flowers, walked the dog, made fajitas and then upgraded my blog software.
upgrading the blog software really sucked and let me tell you why. i had to FTP shit and then i had to deal with cgi/perl scripts. after drinking whiskey.
it was fucking confusing. what the hell do i know about cgi scripts? nothing, that's what. so i follow the instructions included in the upgrade zip file and get all the new files on my server in the right place and then it says: "run mt-upgrade30.cgi"
right. uh. how exactly does one run a cgi script?
turns out you just enter the URL of the script into your browser, but nooooo, they don't tell you that. they make you google for it. of course you need to chmod it first. you know what chmoding is, right? that's when you.... oh, forget it.
basically, it was a two hour process that somehow ended up in victory. i'm now running the new version of movable type and the new version of mt-blacklist. i recommend them both.
god. this is really boring, isn't it? well fuck you. i worked hard to bring this blog to you and all i ask for is a little respect. an occassional thank you.
and a pony.
please, mom? can i have a pony? plllleeeeeeaaasssseeeee???!?!?!?
please?
my fajitas weren't as good as steve's. i should get him to teach me his fajita magic.
today is also the last day of tour. on monday, all my bosses will be back in the office and that will suck. i really like it when they go away. it's, how you say, quiet. not that when they're away i leave early or come late or sneak off to see the incredibles during a slightly extended lunch hour or anything...
'cause that would be wrong.
but, anyway, i did see the incredibles at full, NON-matinee price, and i really enjoyed it. (thanks lump).
i especially liked that part where the guy went whammo! and then the kid was all poweee and his sister was all doiing-doiing-doiing!!! that was cool. also when there was the stretchy-ooo-andKICK! yeah.
it had a fun james bond/action comics look and feel. a lovely little self-referential comedy thing and a plot that was not retard-o. it also did not make me compare santa to hitler or make me think i was gettting nards for christmas. it made me want to fight giant robots with my recently discovered super power.
my recently discovered super power is the ability to ignore endless conspiracy theory emails about vote hacking. the new york times is in my corner, thank god. get over it. we lost. pull it together people. nobody likes a whiner.
please can i have a pony? i promise to brush it and take it for walks and wax its tail into a handlebar mustache kinda thing.
if you notice anything wonky about the blog, please let me know. i might have sorta fucked a few things up in the upgrade process due to the whiskey and my incompetence.

wow. your super power is upgrading to mt 3. did you just use the cheapo limited free version or did you splurge for it? and is it really that much better? i'm still a little sore that i didn't save a copy of the old version somewhere.
the limited version isn't all that limited. it's perfectly fine as long as you only want to run one blog or something. you only have to pay to run multiple blogs with multiple admins.
so far, i'm still figuring out the new features. the integration with mt-blacklist rocks. i'm having trouble with my reject-comment templates, though. my css skills are super-lacking.
je-zus. anyone understand all this "computer" stuff? i can't get typekey to recognize my site. no idea why and the web helps not at all.
at least i did successfully write a snarky auto-reply for people who try to post spam comments here.
dude. i rock.
i figgird it out.
now, if you wanna, go to typekey.com and sign up for a free typekey. why? so you can have your comments posted directly to my blog without waiting for me to approve them.
it's, like, the new anti-spam thing.
sigh.
so i got the typekey system to recognize me, but my blog won't log registered commenters -- so the whole thing is extra useless.
plus i can't figure out what i'm doing wrong with the subcribe to comment feature i tried to install as well. i got it to work through the manual email address method, but when you click that box below, it's supposed to add your address to a list of folks to be notified if anyone else comments here.
it doesn't happen.
anyone reading this understand these things? if so, throw me a bone, huh?
computers are boring & i don't like onions.
i had a cactus burrito yesterday & it was delicious.
the end.
well, if i upgrade, i'm already one author and i'm already at 3 blogs. (main + recently + 5love) so i'm afraid if i try to do anything new i'll be screwed. i've learned from the administration to be afraid of everything.
