Oh Canada!
i'm about to book a ticket to fly to vancouver. my friends Susie (N.Ire) and Patrick (UK) are going to be there on their way home from busking across Alaska.
yep. busking across Alaska. word is Susie walked up to the main stage at the Alaska State Fair and asked the dude if she could go up and sing.
they loved her.
i met paddy and sus in India in '99. on a beach in Goa, called Palolem. months later i was trying to track 'em down on the other side of the country and i asked a group at a table, 'anyone seen a very loud irishwoman?'
they said, 'yeah. susie's down the beach.'
hah hah!
paddy wasn't around then, but susie was there at the end of my year long trip. me and her and wondergail and phil the viking corpse-raper. we swam with a school of six-foot bumphead parrotfish, watched the lizards scurry, and slept in the sand. best week of my trip, easy.
paddy i haven't seen since goa. everyone was so lazy there we couldn't get a vollyball game together. so we played one-on-one. we were kinda drunk.
so yeah. i've got tickets to the Black Rider on friday the 1st of October, but early the next morning i'm going to bust up to canada and we're going to run amok on Vancouver Island. i haven't been to canada in a long time, and i've never been to vancouver and i haven't seen susie and patrick since a few days after the millenium, when i was recovering from the chicken pox on some dinky little paradise island in the middle of the andaman sea.
tonight i'm going to see Neil Young play a solo acoustic show. Jonathan Richmond is opening.
and stuff. and things.

hmm. i just saw an ad on the bus for black rider yesterday. very interesting.
