Gala
today is Gala day. you know what that means, right?!
yep! free booze! and some classical music. the season is starting again! the summer is over! things will be insane! wheee!
this will be my second full season with the symphony. my second gala. let's hope this year they don't pull the fire alarm again, hah hah! boy. that sucked.
anyway. the weekend. the weekend, for fun, we went to IKEA.
IKEA is like having your intestines lined with chili powder while some small child kicks you repeatedly in the groin.
we had lots of fun. we got an Amebliok and a Funkis and Lutfisk and Hives. then we got to assemble them all using the handy dandy skate keys included!
this is boring. god. i'm sorry. it's been a few days and i thought i better blog so as to, you know, keep the readers happy, but really. this is awful.
sometimes you have nothing interesting to say except everyone who knows them should call anne and alex to cheer them up after the worst honeymoon ever.
it was supposed to be a month long, but then anne seriously sprained her ankle in croatia and the person who was watching their dog emailed them that the little fuzz ball had run away. they came home early but the dog has still not appeared.
so i bought them drinks and said exactly what my father would have said, which is:

our house is almost all unpacked now that we've put the linens in the Lutfisk and the magazines in the Funkis. yep. we've got funkis in the bathroom.
and tonight is the gala so we'll get all hoity-toity and drink free booze and then wildflower has to wake up at 3:30 in the a.m. to go diving in socal. she'll be gone for four whole days (*sob*). i'll have the apartment to myself to futz and, uh, futz.
oh! i remember what i was going to say.

i heard they serve chili powdered swedish intestine meatballs at ikea now. and particle board t-shirts.

JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia - Three men were trampled to death in a rush to claim vouchers at the first Ikea furniture showroom in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, hospital officials said.
Sixteen shoppers were injured at the Sweden-based furniture store’s showroom in Jiddah. Medics revived some 20 customers who had fainted in the crush.
The stampede was triggered by an offer for the first 50 shoppers to received $150 vouchers. An official at Ikea’s Saudi agent said more than 70,000 people showed up at the store.
Hospital officials said two dead were a Pakistani and a Saudi national. Ikea is known for simple, reasonably priced products.
