Ahhh Grandpa!

there was all this stuff i was gonna blog about but now i've forgotten what it was.

i did get these groovy new headphones after some trial and error with other totally crappy ones. they're earbuds that come on a little zippy spool so you can pull 'em out and then they zip back in when you're done rocking out.

i'm not the best judge of sound quality, but they sound good to me. and i really hated always getting my headphone cords all tangled up.

gosh that's dull.

i've also been having a lot of fun being part of monkeySARS. i just posted some J J Cale and i've been quite happy listening to this extra weird Blomkrag stuff that dave posted. it's South African and I have absolutely no idea what they're saying. Anyone speak Afrikaans? There is one part where the guy says, "ahhhh Grandpa!"

ahhhhhhh Grandpa!

that's how i feel this week. like a grandpa. last night i went to bed at ten instead of going to say goodbye to magali who's moving to australia. i wanted to go, but i was just so tired.

madhavi and me had dinner with my grandma (ahhhhh Grandma!) and that was fun and filling and tiring. it's fascinating to watch madhavi interact with my family. she and my bubbe traded pie crust secrets. isn't that cute?

CUTE!

we're all going away for the weekend - my whole family and madhavi - up to bodega bay. mom, dad, bubbe, brother, sister, brother-in-law, nieces and me and madhavi. for a weekend.

locked in the house with a killer during a surprise storm. wait. what's that noise? (stab stab stab)

scary, huh? i wonder who will get killed next.

this reminds me of an idea i had a few years back when survivor was all the rage. i think someone should make family surivivor. you'd take an extended family and send them away to some big house somewhere remote and give them all sorts of normal challenges like "make dinner" and "get the baby to stop crying" and "clean out the gutters." then you'd have them vote people out of the house one by one.

c'mon. you know that would be a must-watch show.

who can you not stand for another day? ahhhhhhh Grandpa!

sheepishly, i realize that i was absolutely no help in this, as i was asked to help give you headphone recommendations and i never really came through. sorry.

although, didn't you specifically say that you didn't want headphones? in which case you were lying to me the whole time. so i don't feel so bad anymore, liar!

retractable spools are way cool. i had a jabra cellphone headset that did the same thing and it kicked ass. until i lost it or someone swiped it out of my car.

i also had the exact cellphone headset made by these guys and it was way cool. until wifey swiped it out of my hands.

i'm makin' some snazzy speakers from plans in ready made magazine - ingredients include 2 altoids tins, 2 playing cards, & 1 pair of cheap headphones. i will be rockin'. now if i could just figure out how to make a subwoofer out of my trashcan here at work, i could have surround sound.
