It's a Small World

this song is in my head. that is not particularly good news.

yes, we here at the symphony are sucking at the disney teat. drinking the sour mouse milk which makes ice-blended slush in the heads of wee chilluns all across this small small world. joy! we're doing a shoreline concert to film clips of mickey "pulling his wand from under his robe." in previous drafts, the wand "spurted" fireworks. now it sparkles.

heh.

in other small world news, i'm thinking about writing a book. (surprise!)

this would be a guide book to here. not here as in san francisco, but here as in wherever you might be. how to develop and maintain a traveler's mindset while still at home.

my brudder wrote a blogpost about something like this and reminded me i'd been having similar thoughts. i thought maybe we'd try to write a book together.

he's going traveling soon. i thought he could write me about the things he's doing and i could try and do similar things here. then he's moving to new york and he could write me about being new in a city and i could try to recreate his moves here. then after he'd been in new york for a while, i could send him the things he had me try originally and we'd see how they worked out for him. and then i'm going traveling and we'd swap it around more.

this would be kinda cool as new york and san francisco are fairly dissimilar (for U.S. cities at least) and although we're related and both will happily dress up like idiots for parties, we approach things in different ways. plus, we both grew up in a rabbi-swamp so we're good at sermonizing. i think it will end up being more of a "guide to life" type of book than a travel book.

i'm not sure i can cultivate and maintain a traveler's excitement while sedentary, but it would be fun to try.

it's (*ack*) a small world, after all.
