Adventure

i'm not nearly as sore as i thought i'd be. wait... what's happening?!?

yes! you guessed it! it's the weekend-round up! you win the soo-prize!

since i'm feeling fairly wrecked and extra-lazy, i'll do it shorthand; like i used to do my travel journal emails if you've known me long enough to remember those.

ahem.

...seven hours seems a long time to get there, but then who thought a dirt road could be longer than... dots of glowing blue light, not in the sky, but on the ground. are these glow worms? what the hell is... into my hips and lower back like angry little marmots, and i realize the merits of owning my own pack 'cause this one fits as well as... the eel river, so wonderfully cold on my feets, and such a contrast to the scorching heat on the meadow and in my head... not really going to camp right next to us are you? there's just us, a couple set up half a klick down the river, and you and you want to pitch your three tents for three people there? no? good thinking. see you... in this deep blue pool no one else has seem to have found 'cause it's all of twelve boulders up river, where we can strip down and jump... onto my new thermarest, which is definitely worth the ninty bucks, and asleep so fast even the dog lying on my ankles... exploding, shooting a jet of flaming white gas through some freak hole in the stove, but luckily not melting her face or setting the whole goddamned forest aflame. unluckily, this does make any coffee for the next few days impossible, or say, any hot... giant rattlesnake, which the dog doesn't see, but we watch slip through the dry grass as... she finds the two massive steelhead hiding in a cave, but keeps forgetting she doesn't have scuba gear on and wondering why she can't breathe... into the little hole under the boulders, 'cause i want to see, and there's a little waterfall back there in the cool, cool shade and... perhaps, the worst meal i've ever eaten of reconstituted tabouleh, more hummus, stale tortillas and... the stars, so clear and bright, it reminds me of being in the andaman islands over... knee rocks, which is a horrible horrible disease only slightly better then head rocks and the only way you can get rid of head rocks is with a punch in the face. what? i've got head rocks?... is a bear cub, but it was gone so quick i can't quite be... so so so much better, except for all the uphill in the devilish heat. we're almost there and i feel strong still. what? a migraine? now? i guess i better carry your pack, too, then... making my hands tingle it's so cold, but i got so overheated my hat wouldn't fit... and finally, blissfully, back home with one more sweet goodbye kiss.

and that's what the weekend was like. sure was pretty down there. and yep, one hell of an adventure. plus i got good naked mid-air jumping-into-blue-pool pictures which i am NOT going to post, so fergit it.

Can't you post the not-naked photos? I want to go camping again right now through your photos.
