The Bathroom of Justice

so i posted these pictures, and realized there was no way i could do that without telling this story:

when my brother was searching for a place to live, he looked at a place on albion street. the landlady walked him up to the third floor flat, pointing out the beautiful murals on all the landings. they were, she said, by a local artist who had passed on. a friend of hers, named snowflake. have you heard of him? no? lev hadn't either.

one mural was a pacific northwest indian deal. another was (um, i forget, but they're all different, and nice.) anyway, as they approach the flat, she says, "so i should let you know, this flat used to be snowflake's and he painted a mural in it as well. in the bathroom. i'm really looking for a tenant who will respect his art and his life and _not_ paint over the mural. does that sound like you?"

lev goes, hey, whatever. let's see it.

so she lets him into the flat and shows him the bathroom. and the bathroom is, below the wainscotting, done in a faux-stone style. above the wainscotting the walls are terra cotta red with a black frieze painted over it. the frieze depicts greek soldiers and gods and men.

with me so far? good, cause the greek men all have gi-normous cocks they're waving about and they're all doing each other. pinching nipples. grabbing their ankles. having what i believe i can safely call a gay old time.

lev, of course, talked her down a few hundred in rent and took the place.
