Fingers Left to Burn

|

it now looks like i'll get to keep my job. i'm wary of proclaiming anything; from experience now. must attempt zen attitude to survive at the symphony.

today, in a new employee orientation led by the director of communications, i got introduced special. karen had everyone go around and say their name and a sentence or two about what they do at the symphony. i was joking with stephanie that i had no idea how to summarize my job when it was my turn. but before i could say anything, karen said, "and this is zack, he's the one you call when..."

she made me blush! said all these nice things! made me feel like i got picked first for the kickball team.

now if only it were kickball season again...

i got a letter from a woman i'm not seeing any more. yet another woman i'm not seeing because we like each other. not because we don't, see, but because we do. she's not available and i've sworn off unavailable women. i have no fingers left to burn.

it's really hard when they send you letters, though. not emails, mind, but letters. with actual handwriting. and stamps. addressed to "my dear schoolboy" and signed, "your teacher."

really, though, what could i say if i wrote back? except call me when you're available. and thanks. and sweet dreams.

the heat's on. i don't mean that metaphorically. i mean literally, the heat is on. it's winter and i might just start hibernating soon.
